On July 13, 2016 more than 1,000 dogs and 1,500 people attended the 10th annual Dog Day Afternoon gathering at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. Hosted and organized by the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the event brings together downtown residents and their four-legged friends for a community-building event with an evening of mingling, music, pet-related vendor displays, great food and companionship.
Each year, an individual or organization that has shown exceptional leadership in the community is honored by the Downtown Center Business Improvement District with the “Top Dog” award. The Bark Avenue Foundation team was thrilled to be this year’s award recipient!
Since 2004, BAF has been a close community partner and friend to families and their pets in Downtown LA, providing free pet collars and tags, support services for at-risk pet owners, and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries. Bark Avenue Foundation’s founder, Melanie Pozez, accepted the Top Dog Award on behalf of the organization.
The 10th Annual Dog Day at the Cathedral was sponsored by Pet Project LA, Forest City, and Pussy and Pooch. Thanks so much to Downtown Center Business Improvement District for this wonderful honor and we look forward to next year’s Dog Day at the Cathedral!
