We’re making amazing progress emptying the Downey Shelter this week for Shane’s War! Over 200 dogs and cats have found forever homes in the first few days of the mega-adoption event. Shane’s War is a week-long extension (4/29-5/7) for all of the Downey Shelter residents giving them more time to find a home. There are 100s of animals including dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits still waiting to be adopted at this shelter. Click here or stop by to see all of the adoptable pets.
We’ve met some wonderful families, volunteers, shelter staff, and members of the community at the event. Our good friend, Henry DiCarlo, from KTLA 5 stopped by to raise awareness about the event and to spotlight some of the pets available for adoption. Check out his coverage here. ABC 7 also joined us to shine a spotlight on this life-saving effort.
Please stop by the Downey Shelter (11258 South Garfield Avenue, Downey, CA 90241) this week and consider adopting a new family member and saving a life. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates from the event.
Thanks again to all of the Shane’s War partners including Shelter Me, Eastwood Ranch, Frosted Faces Foundation, and Hope for Paws. For more info and to volunteer, please contact Darlene@barkavenuefoundation.org or text 562-652-0837.
