Bark Avenue Foundation would not be able to do what we do without the support, hard work, and time of our volunteers. We have many opportunities to get involved for every level of time commitment and area of interest.
We are always looking for volunteers with special skills like graphic design, videography & photography, marketing, event planning, and many more. Whatever your area of specialty, if you’re interested in sharing it with us for our shared goal of saving animals’ lives, we would love to talk to you!
Humane Education – This program survives and thrives by the efforts of our volunteer presenters, with a commitment as little as one series consisting of three two-hour presentations (6 hours total), and as much more as you would like to do! All materials and training are provided, and we partner with LA’s BEST and other programs at schools all throughout LA City and County, so you can volunteer at schools near you and all throughout the metro area.
Spay/Neuter Clinics – These clinics are primarily handled by just two staff members and they can use all the volunteer help they can get before, after, and during the clinics. From going into the communities to talk about the importance of spay/neuter and distributing flyers for upcoming clinics, to check-in and out. and assisting with paperwork at the clinics. Everything runs smoother and is safer with a dedicated crew to help!
Unsheltered People & Pets – We all know how much we love our fur-babies, and for unsheltered people the human-animal bond is often even stronger, as they provide their only companionship, security, and stability. We are happy to be partnering with LA Family Housing to provide monthly on-site services to unsheltered pet parents, such as vaccines, exams, and supply distribution. We can use volunteers to help with this program on-site and remotely through gathering supplies from donors.
Fostering – BAF focuses on prevention rather than direct hands-on rescue, but sometimes the two come together and we will take in an animal in need. When this happens we need fosters and volunteers to care for the pets until they can return to their person, a rescue has space and/or they find their forever homes. If you’re interested in fostering, BAF provides supplies and financial coverage, and you provide the love and care!
The opportunities for involvement abound, and we often need people to pick up or drop off supplies and other materials, input and analyze data, and much more. Please email Christy@barkavenuefoundation.org or click on volunteer to complete the online form. Thank you for your interest in Bark Avenue Foundation and for sharing our mission of saving animals’ lives! Together we can #AlterTheFuture. \
