The fourth Monday of every month, from 11AM – 1PM, BAF’s Unsheltered People and Pets program is on-site at LA Family Housing to provide services for homeless pet parents. Each month this program helps a couple dozen pets with vet care, assessments, vaccinations, deworming, flea treatment, and other services.
We also hand out bags of pet food, treats, toys, beds, blankets, collars, leashes, crates/carriers, and other supplies, and schedule appointments for additional care such as spay/neuter surgeries, lump removal, dental, and other urgent procedures.
One client recently brought her gorgeous and clearly well-loved kitty companion in and sent us this message afterwards: “Y’all are the cat’s meow! I got the whole kit-and-kaboodle for my best friend Baby Kitty – wet AND dry food, litter, scratching post, collar, blanket (made by a volunteer) which she loves… Without the wonderful help of Bark Avenue Foundation, I wouldn’t have been able to take care of Baby Kitty. They even paid for BC’s visit to the veterinarian. I rely on them and that has been the best choice I have made in a long time. Thank you all at Bark!”
These services are essential for pet parents who want to provide the right care for their fur family, but are not financially able. It truly warms our hearts to see how much the people and pets care about each other and we are happy to be able to help. If you’re interested in getting involved with this program, we can always use more volunteer support to help store and deliver items and field calls and referrals.
